Video Game Sequel Takes Home Fitness to a New Level

Nintendo has released another fun, smash hit, that will keep children and adults entertained, and most importantly fit, without setting foot outside of the living room.

Millions of Nintendo Wii gamers have likely experienced and enjoyed the original Wii Sports software that comes included with Wii consoles. The user friendly game is inviting and simple, and it showcases the functionality of the Wii system by having the player's movements control the character's actions on-screen.

Nintendo took what was at first a video game with 5 playable sports, and essentially upgraded it to the next level, calling it Wii Sports Resort.

Wii MotionPlus

The first noticeable difference between Wii Sports Resort and the original, is the addition of a new accessory called Wii MotionPlus. One Wii MotionPlus unit is included with the Wii Sports Resort packaging.

The device attaches to a player's WiiMote and is used to detect body motion in greater detail when used with specific, compatible games. The accessory causes the player to feel more immersed within the game, as the on-screen character's actions nearly mimic the player's movements.

An additional Wii MotionPlus unit must be purchased if family and friends are to join into the fun.

Wii Sports Resort Features

Stay Active, and have fun by jumping into one of the 12 sports games that are included with the software. Just like with the original Wii Sports, this title also has something for everyone to enjoy. Choose from different skill levels, and variations of:

  • Swordplay
  • Wakeboarding
  • Frisbee
  • Basketball
  • Table Tennis
  • Archery
  • Power Cruising
  • Golf
  • Bowling
  • Skydiving
  • Cycling
  • Canoeing

Each above sport has different playing modes to select from. For example, when playing basketball, a player can participate in a three-point shooting contest, or enter into a pick-up style game. In Frisbee, they can take their Wii dog to the beach and toss the frisbee to him/her.

Or, they can take the frisbee to the golf greens and try a few rounds of Frisbee Golf. In Skydiving players can pilot a plane over Wii Sports Resort's Wuhu Beach for an aerial tour, and if they are feeling adventureous, enjoy taking in the beautiful scenery by jumping out of the plane either alone, or with other Wii characters they can connect with online.

Wii Sports Resort has great replay value, as many players will try to beat previous high scores and advance to different levels within the game. Wii Sports Resort is suitable for all ages. The price point of $49.99 is uniform with most other new Wii titles. This game is ideal for anyone who is looking to get up off of the couch and enjoy a little exercise without having to walk out the front door. Be prepared, for a highly addicting, and interactive experience that is fun for the whole family!
