While considered unprofessional by some, the video game community has celebrated April Fool's Day with jokes for many years.

Avid gamers know better than to trust video game news stories on April Fool's Day. Below are the three most hilarious April Fool's Day pranks/jokes of 2009.

Xbox 360 Alpine Legend: "Are you ready to blow?"

A humorous spoof of Guitar Hero, Alpine Legend simulates the thrill of yodeling.

"Take your band through all the alpine rights of passage: a mountainous village tour, recording sessions in a log cabin studio, overcoming throat soother addiction, and even competing in a live yodel off."

The game contains more than 100 classic Alphorn tracks, featuring songs such as "Whose spit is in my horn?" and "More Goat Bell (it needs)." Alpine Legend released on April 1st with two limited editions: Alpine Legend Limited Edition Tri-Horn Pack, which comes with a tri-horn blastermaster, and Alpine Legend Limited Edition Goat Pack, so players can immerse themselves with a "mountain goat add-on."

Red Faction: Guerrilla adds Ostrich Hammer to deadly arsenal of weaponry

In an effort to bring new players to their games, game designer Sweeny Todds is introducing the Ostrich Hammer to Red Faction: Guerrilla.

The video, about five minutes long, contains behind-the-scenes footage of the development team working on this epic piece of weaponry. The team really goes all-out to deliver the joke, with in-game footage of the weapon in action--squawking sound effects and all!

Originally, the joke began on the NeoGAF Forums, but Volition decided to take it to the next level as an April Fool's Joke.

The video is easily one of the most humorous video game related April Fool's jokes to date.

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: All DLC Half Price, except Horse Armor

For the record, this joke is not a joke at all, which is exactly what makes it so funny.

The Oblivion Horse Armor became infamous since the day of its release and is now a symbol for rip-off DLC. Instead of adding some significant extras, the Horse Armor is little more than an aesthetic change.

Thankfully, the horse armor did not indicate the future of Oblivion's DLC, considering all the following content offered by Bethesda were admirable expansions to the game.

By lowering the price of all DLC except the horse armor, which is doubled, Bethesda is giving gamers a nice discount while simultaneously poking fun of themselves. The following is a list of all Oblivion DLC including the price in MS Points.

  • Shivering Islands expansion pack, 1200 MS Points
  • Knights of the Nine expansion pack, 400 MS Points
  • The Fighter's Stronghold, 75 MS Points
  • Spell Tomes, 40 MS Points
  • The Vile Lair, 75 MS Points
  • Mehrunes' Razor, 125 MS Points
  • The Thieves Den, 75 MS Points
  • The Wizard's Tower, 75 MS Points
  • The Orrery, 75 MS Points
  • Horse Armor Pack, 400 MS Points (clearly the best value)

The pricing will only last for one week, so any Oblivion fans yet to download the additional content should take advantage of the low cost before its too late.
