Nintendo GameCube Game Recommendations
Though there's bound to be disagreement with so many great titles from such a popular and economically viable gaming system, here is one opinion of the top ten games for Nintendo GameCube.
1. The Legend of Zelda: The Twighlight Princess
While there are other great Zelda titles, the Twighlight Princess stands out for its depth, innovation and fun game play. The previous Zelda Game, "The Wind Waker," received mixed reviews. While some think it's the better game, others contend that the graphics were too childish and the game play too rough. For instance, at times, it seems like the makers force the player to perform too many mundane tasks that don't pertain directly to the game or story, presumably to make for a longer gaming experience. In Twighlight Princess, the storyline moves at a consistent forward pace, while the graphics are more of an enhancement of the popular Nintendo 64 title, "The Ocarina of Time."
2. Resident Evil 4
Capcom decided to change its style for the fourth installment of its popular series. The controls in the previous games were starting to get some complaints. RE4 is a masterpiece of horror, proving that GameCube isn't just about producing games for young children.
3. Metroid Prime
Some contended that the controls weren't the best in this game, but the game play sure made up for it. With brilliant graphics and innovative puzzles, Metroid Prime kept gamers busy and captivated.
4. Eternal Darkness
The multi-layered storyline and inventive style of play captured the minds and hearts of Cube fans. The unique insanity effects added a unique twist to gaming.
5. Metroid Prime 2
Sequals aren't always successful, but while this one didn't quite live up to the high standards of the first game, it certainly held its own.
6. Mario Kart: Double-Dash
Double-Dash elevated the Mario Kart series up a notch, and replaced "hopping" with the power slide. Also, the inclusion of special weapons based on the character used, and the ability to have two characters in a kart made things really interesting.
7. Pikmin 2
This witty and charming game was addicting in as much as it was innovative. Manipulating multi-colored raddish people, or whatever they are, proved to be a blast!
8. Viewtiful Joe
This creative side-scrolling, arcade-like game incorporates a 3D feel for fast-pace action. It even lets the gamer control time in certain parts!
9. Prince of Persia
This Indiana Jones-like action/adventure brought a new perspective of acrobatics into games. In some ways, it may have paved the way for games like Assassin's Creed.
10. Soul Calibur 2
SC2 is a well-balanced, beautiful fighting game that featured some excellent characters.
