A popular western themed browser based adventure game.
The West is a strategic browser based game that gives cowboys at heart a chance to experience a little bit of the Wild West. Battle other players and surrounding towns for the highest rank, or cool your heels and enjoy the quests and storylines. The West adventure has something for all players. The West : Game Play Gunslingers can wander the region dueling others for money and ranking, work at jobs for loot, or complete quests to advance through the game. Players can duel opponents to gain riches and prestige using a variety of weapons that they can find at their local Gunsmith or stumble across during jobs. Weapons range from broken bottles to shotguns, and can be used on opponents. Westerners progress through the game by completing jobs such as breaking in horses, picking tobacco, silver mining, and transporting ammunition. Every job requires a different set of skill points that are obtained through leveling up, or by purchasing gear. Completing a job will reward a player with money, experience, and goods that are necessary for continuing in the game. Jobs take from 10 minutes to 2 hours to complete, giving gamers a chance to take care of their real life tasks in between. A sheriff, barkeeper, Indian, and dancer wait inside the saloon to hand out quests that players must complete to advance through the story. Friends of the family, fellow fighters in the civil war, and other characters will show up later in the game with more stories and western quests. Towns in The West Each player has the option of building their own town, or teaming up with others and joining a town that has already been built. Towns can form alliances with other towns, or team up to build and defend a fort. Inside the towns are buildings that each serves a particular function. Players may visit the hotel to gain energy and refill their health, store money in the bank, stop by the saloon to receive more quests, pray at the local church, get mail at the post office, or grow the city and find out the latest news at the Town Hall. Players can also shop for goods to improve their character at the Tailor, Gunsmith, and General Store. The West won the Browser Game of the Year Award in 2008, along with the Best Concept, Best RPG, and Best Game Play awards. Take the next stagecoach over to The West to try your hand at life as an outlaw.
