Skate 2 Dowloadable ContentA Variety of Downloadable Content Available via Xbox Live and PSN
EA has released 6 pieces of downloadable content to support Skate 2. Included in the dlc are locations from the original Skate, film editing tools, retro gear and more
A key factor developers keep in mind after a game's release is how to give their product legs in order to keep them coming back for more. Developer Electronic Arts has adequately supplied Skate 2 with a catalog of six pieces of downloadable content which are sure to satisfy fans of the series. New areas, old areas, retro gear, extensive film editing opportunities, new contests and even a patch that unlocks everything in the entire game are now up for grabs through PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace ranging from free to roughly $10.00 Maloof Money Cup PackStrategically, the Money Cup pack was released via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network shortly before the actual Maloof Money Cup skateboarding contest held in late July. The Maloof street course and vert ramp have been recreated for the game, and akin to the competition there are two challenges to be completed. The first being a street contest and the second being a vert one. Each contest is divided into three heats, and the skater with the highest overall score is the winner. It won't take players familiar with Skate 2 any longer than 20 minutes to play through the entire package. A small piece of content for an equally small fee: 240 Microsoft Points or $3.00 for Playstation users. For those eager to sink their claws into more Skate 2, the Maloof Money Cup isn't a bad considering its low price. On a side note, completing both contests will earn the player two achievements, each worth 100 points which may serve as incentive enough, for some. Throwback PackThis is the cheapest of the Skate 2 DLC out right now, so cheap its free in fact. Sizing up at 108 kilobytes, this pack contains a variety of classic aparrel options players can customize their skaters with. Items such as knee high socks, tie dye shirts, short shorts, some funky sunglasses and other retro gear. It also includes two additional gestures that can be mapped to the d-pad -- playing air guitar and holding up peace signs. Its not much, but free is free. San Van Classic PackAs the first sizable piece of DLC, the San Van Classic Pack reintroduces three spots from the original Skate: the Community Center, Elementary School and Parkade. While the spots may not have changed, the new mechanics of the sequel carry over such as the ability to hop off the board and walk around, and the ability to interact with the environment; moving and rearranging obstacles. Running for 400 Microsoft Points, or $5.00 this pack would definitely cater to people who haven't played the original, but veterans of the game might find some enjoyment with it as well. Dyrdek's Fantasy Plaza Pack Pro skater Rob Dyrdek built his perfect skatepark in a warehouse underneath his office. This DLC is a recreation of that particular skatepark. Included in this gap, rail and ledge filled content is the surrounding area representing downtown Los Angeles. The second substantial piece of content is once again priced at 400 Microsoft points. Filmer PackWhile Skate 2 has a simple feature of editing footage of the player on screen skateboarding, this pack builds upon the pre-existant replay editor with extensive tools such as advanced camera control, custom watermarks, increased video storage, as well as some extra gear. This is the most expensive content costing 600 Microsoft Points, or about $8.00. Time is Money PackThe title says it all: time is indeed money. In this day and age most people have to prioritize what they want to spend their free time doing. For those unable to put the time and effort into playing through the game to unlock everything, look no further. This 400 Microsoft Point download unlocks all locations, skaters and gear that can be earned through career and online modes. 100% completion in this game is just one button and $5.00 away.
