A recent addition to the Sims 2 universe, plant sims can be a challenge to create but a joy to play with abilities that no other sim creature possesses.
Plant sims were introduced to the Sims 2 universe with the expansion pack Seasons. Please note that players reading this guide who have not installed that expansion pack will not be able to make plant sims. Orchard Trees and Plant SimsPlant sims are only made possible with orchard trees. As with greenhouses and many other gardening additions, orchard trees must be tended and sprayed to be healthy and eventually they will reward the sims caring for them with fruit. Players must wave their mouse cursor over the orchard tree to see what its status is. The tree can be unhealthy in several worsening degrees or healthy. Periodically, once every few days, the trees will require a player’s sim to Tend or Spray the tree to make them healthy or keep them healthy though there are also times when there are no interactions available at all with the trees. Even more rarely, depending on the seasons that the player has set for their neighborhood, the tree may need to be harvested. Find orchard trees under Build Mode, not Buy Mode. They can be acquired under the Garden Center tab and come in three varieties: apples, oranges, and lemons. How to Create a Plant SimTo become a plant sim, a sim must spray ten or more orchard trees. Tending the trees will not accomplish anything except pleasing the trees, so players must pay close attention to what they are clicking on. Make sure it is the Spray interaction. A good strategy is to line the trees up close together and outside of a greenhouse to encourage an infestation. The health of the orchard trees will suffer, but players must be patient and wait until ten trees are in need of spraying. Then, to make sure that the sim sprays all ten trees successively, do not choose the option Spray Many, instead choose Spray for each individual tree. This allows the player to count how many trees have been sprayed and ensures that the game doesn’t skip over a tree and cheat the player out of the long-awaited plant sim. Once the player’s chosen sim has sprayed ten trees he or she will transform into a plant sim with green skin and gold-yellow eyes. Be advised that plant sims cannot change their hairstyle any longer. They are stuck wearing a crown of leaves. The boolprop cheat does not work to speed up this process. Shift-clicking on an orchard tree offers the choice to force an infestation, but it does not work. Players are encouraged to try it and may have better results as boolprop tends to be finicky and one player’s outcomes can sometimes be different from another’s.
