There comes a time, usually early, in everyone's Sims 2 gaming experience when players become homicidal toward their Sims. How can you use boolprop to commit Sim-murder?

Step One: Pick Your Victim

Imagine Jimmy the college Sim. He is a rotten apple. Jimmy has cheated on his fiancé. Jimmy is a slob. You tell Jimmy to do his college assignments and Jimmy quits halfway through them when you’re not looking. After all of your hard work pulling Jimmy’s dead-weight through college, he gets home to visit his parents and rejects his hardworking mother when she tries to hug him. It’s time for Jimmy to die because his ghost will be far more tolerable. But how will he die?

Step Two: Wrestle Your Conscience If You Have One

When this homicidal mood hits you, don’t be ashamed. There are many reasons why killing a Sim is acceptable and even good. Sim-death is a natural, entertaining, and even necessary part of playing. Without Sims being able to die there would be no way to make room for the next generation. And some Sims must die to increase the endangered Sim-ghost population. The creators of the Sims 2 have even encouraged players to invest in killing their Sims by color-coding the ghosts as follows:

  1. Die of Old Age: White
  2. Death by Disease: Green
  3. Death by Drowning: Blue with a trail of puddles
  4. Death by Electrocution: Yellow with sparks
  5. Death by Fire: Red
  6. Die of Starvation: Transparent and rumored to raid the fridge
  7. Die of Flies: Purple
  8. Die from Fright: Pink
  9. Die by Satellite: Orange and it leaves bits of the wreckage in its wake

Most of these deaths are hard to achieve without cheating, but with the all-powerful boolprop they become easy.

Step Three: Act

Turn on boolprop. Press Ctrl+Shift+C. Enter the cheat boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Pause the game and press Shift while clicking on any Sim. The Shift-click menu under boolprop will be confusing if you are a newcomer, but look for the Spawn option and select it.

Under the Spawn menu find Rodney’s Death Creator and select. A tombstone will appear next to the Sim you Shift-clicked on. Rodney’s Death Creator is now a normal object within the game. If you have no further use for boolprop you can turn it off now by typing boolprop testingcheatsenabled false into the cheat window text.

Now make sure that you are controlling the Sim that you want to die, in this case college boy Jimmy. Use Jimmy to click on the tombstone of Rodney’s Death Creator. Several options will appear for you (and Jimmy) to choose from. In the recent expansion packs (Free Time or Seasons for instance) new ways to die have been added: Death by Hail and Death by Lightning. The colors for these ghosts aren’t known yet, but you can find out. Select the Death of your choice from the tombstone and sit back to watch Jimmy’s demise.

If Jimmy was the only playable Sim on the lot, his death may bring on a very memorable visit by the Grim Reaper. After the Reaper sends Jimmy on his way and leaves his tombstone for you to cackle over, he may just feel a little call of nature of his own. Be ready with your camera while the Reaper strolls into Jimmy’s now empty house and sits down on the toilet to relieve himself. As soon as Death is done it’s time for you to leave the lot and move the next family in to wait for Jimmy’s ghost to appear.
