Tips and instructions on how to beat Nintendo DS games with the Action Replay DS.

The Action Replay DS, commonly referred to as AS, ARDS, or AR, is a game cartridge designed to enhance the performance of games through cheat codes on the Nintendo DS portable gaming system.

The ARDS comes with a game card that is plugged into the Nintendo DS gaming console and cheat codes are entered through the PC application, Code Manager, that can installed from the Action Replay DS installation CD.

Items You’ll Need

The following items are needed to copy and upload cheats onto your Nintendo DS:

  • USB cable
  • Action Replay DS installation CD
  • Action Replay DS cartridge
  • Action Replay DS codes

The Action Replay DS can be found in most electronics stores including Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Target at a suggested retail price of $24.99.

Steps to Download Codes

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to upload cheats onto your Action Replay DS for Nintendo DS:

  1. Insert the Action Replay DS cartridge into your Nintendo DS console. Plug one end of the USB cord into the Action Replay DS and plug the other end of the USB cable into your computer.
  2. Insert the Action Replay DS installation CD that came with your gaming console. The Action Replay Code Manager Setup Wizard will launch. Follow the wizard to successfully install the Code Manager.
  3. Open the Code Manager software on your computer. Click the DS-Cartridge button in the top right corner of the manager window. This will upgrade your software to the latest version and display a list of games and associated action codes.
  4. Locate the code you would like to use.
  5. Open up Notepad on your computer and copy and paste the code. Save the file as a .xml file type. Choose “File” and then “Save As” and enter a name for your file. Make sure to replace the .txt extension with .xml.
  6. Create a “Custom Codelist.” Under the “My Codelists,” click the icon that looks like a piece of paper with a green “+” sign next to it. Drag and drop the games from the “My Subscriptions” to the “Custom Codelist” that you created.
  7. Right-click a game from your “Custom Codelist” and select “Add new cheat.” Pick a title for your cheat and copy and paste your action replay code from your .xml file.
  8. Click the green button (small star) to scroll down to your code. Click the green star button again to checkmark the code. Keep the Nintendo DS on and remove the Action Replay DS cartridge and insert the game cartridge that you wish to play. Click the “Start” button to begin playing your game with the game cheat.

The Action Replay DS game cartridge makes it easy to beat games with the Nintendo DS. It’s inexpensive and easy to use and will allow you to be beat those levels and opponents you struggle to get past.
