Gaming Valentine's Day GiftsValentine Gift Ideas for that Special Gamer
Gamers may not be into traditional Valentine's Day gifts, but here is a list of somewhat romantic suggestions for that special gamer.
Whether they are male or female, gamers don't want flowers or chocolates for Valentine's Day. They want to feed their obsession, no matter the holiday. The following suggestions are games (some very popular) with romantic elements, implications, or stretches of implications, perfect for a Valentine on the holiday of celebrating love. Role-Playing Gamer: Fable 2In addition to having an intriguing storyline and fun RPG gameplay, Fable 2 allows characters to get married, have children, and even have random sex (which can have undesirable results, just like in real life). However, marrying someone isn't as easy as clubbing them over the head and dragging them back to your residence. Players do have to woo them by taking them on perfect dates and giving them gifts. Eventually the prospective partner will throw a suggestion to get married (they usually say, "if only we had a ring..."), and then sealing the marriage deal is as easy as finding a suitable ring and presenting it to them. Of course, if a gamers idea of romance is stuffing a poor sap's pants with a grenade, then Fallout 3 may be the better suggestion. Platform/Action: Prince of PersiaThe latest installment of Prince of Persia has a partner for the Prince, the beautiful Elika who serves as the Prince's guide, his combat partner, his jumping aid, and his savior from death. In short, the Prince cannot survive his world without her, very much like gamers and their Valentines. Simulation Games: My Baby Boy and My Baby GirlFor those who really, really want to drop the hint to their gamer Valentines that it's time to start a family, then either of these games for the Nintendo DS may do the trick nicely. The game supposedly simulates what it is like raising a baby (the gender is up to the purchaser), but most likely makes it far cuter and sweeter and not as loud and messy as parenthood really can be. But who's looking for reality when the biological clock is ticking? Fighting Games: Super Smash Bros. BrawlNot much romance here (unless players choose to set Zelda and Link or Mario and Peach as team for combo fighting or even against one another), but it's a fun game for two people in love to play together. Isn't that what Valentine's Day is really all about? Games with Guns: Gears of War 2For those who believe that nothing says "I love you" like bolt-action, Gears of War 2 is the game for them. It's a third-person shooter with enough ammunition action to appease any artillery aficionado. The game presents quite a few modes of play -- including co-op and online -- andtherefore hundreds of hours of bullet bliss. If the Valentine doesn't mind an IOU, then maybe Killzone 2 (coming out at the end of February) will be a better fit for the first-person shooter fanatic. Other Valentine Gift IdeasThis list may not be that helpful for the gamer who pre-orders everything and has an incredibly extensive gaming library, so for those gamers, the following is a list of extra niceties any gamer would appreciate:
At the end of the day, choosing a Valentine gift is a matter of personal choice, but hardcore gamers might just prove to be easier to buy for than anyone else. Hopefully these ideas have served to inspire those stuck for choice in a world of gaming delights.
